• NYC Schools Account (NYCSA) Information for Families

  The NYC Schools Account (NYCSA) is a one-stop online portal that gives families access to important information and resources to support their child's education.

  With one account, parents and guardians can:

  • View student grades, attendance, test scores, and report cards in the MyStudent section
  • Update emergency contact information
  • Access and complete school forms
  • Enroll in free courses through Parent University
  • Report bullying concerns
  • Reset a student's NYCPS account password
  • Access SupportHub
  • Receive important school and NYCPS notifications

  How to Create a NYCSA Account

  Creating an account only takes a few minutes.

  Step 1: Sign Up

  Visit the NYC Schools Account website and create an account using basic information:

  Step 2: Add Your Child

  You must connect your child to your account before you can view student information.

  If you have a Creation Code, follow the instructions provided by the school.

  If you do not have a Creation Code, you can register through:

  In Person at P.S. 001

  Bring:

  • A valid photo ID (passport, driver's license, IDNYC, etc.)
  • Your child's 9-digit student ID number (OSIS), found on report cards and other school documents

  Virtual Verification

  The school can also verify your identity through a virtual appointment when available.

  Important NYCSA Access Updates for 2026-2027

  Beginning later in the 2026-2027 school year, access to NYCSA will be based on whether an individual is identified in NYCPS records as a student's parent or guardian, regardless of custodial status or where the child primarily resides.

  As a result:

  • Parents who already have NYCSA access as custodial parents will not experience any changes.
  • Parents who currently have access as non-custodial parents will gain access to additional student information, including emergency contact information.
  • Parents identified in NYCPS systems who do not already have NYCSA access may create an account immediately.
  • The previous 45-day waiting period for non-custodial parents has been removed.

  Court Orders and Orders of Protection

  If there is a court order or order of protection involving another parent or guardian, families should provide a copy to the school:

  • At the beginning of each school year
  • Whenever the order is updated, renewed, or extended

  Once the document is entered into NYCPS systems, NYCSA will display a Restricted Access or Limited Access designation when applicable.

  Parents with restricted access must contact the school directly to create a NYCSA account.

  After the school verifies the most current legal documentation, eligible parents may be granted limited access based on the court order. In many cases, academic information may still be available while contact information remains restricted.

  Families can access their NYC Schools Account on their mobile device.

  Download the NYC Schools Account App:

  • Google Play Store

  The mobile app allows families to access many of the same features available through the website, including student information, notifications, forms, and more.

• Annual Privacy Notices and Forms

  Dear Families,

  At New York City Public Schools (NYCPS), student privacy is a top priority. That means safeguarding student data using industry standards and best practices, training our staff members on their responsibilities when handling student information, and requiring third-party vendors to complete our data privacy and security compliance process. It also means informing our students and families about their privacy rights.

  To help you stay informed, we are sharing a Privacy Packet with important information about your rights and how we safeguard student information. This packet explains your rights under federal, state, and local privacy laws, including Chancellor’s Regulation A-820. The packet includes:

            • Privacy Rights 101: A one-page flyer that summarizes your nine most important privacy rights.
            • Annual FERPA Notice: Explains your rights under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act

  (FERPA), including your right to access your child’s records and your right to keep that information private.

            • Annual PPRA Notice: Outlines your rights under the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA), especially around surveys and information collected from students.
            • Parents’ Bill of Rights for Data Privacy and Security: Describes how student data is protected by law and the responsibilities of NYCPS and its partners in keeping student data safe and secure.
