Enrollment Schedule

Enrollment is scheduled daily at 9 am.

Pre-K enrollment with Betsy, Family Worker, in the Mini Building located behind the Main Building.

Kindergarten to 5th Grade with Glorimar, Pupil Accounting Secretary, in the Main Building.

Public School 1, The School of Leadership and Creativity, welcomes new students to New York City, students looking to switch from a charter or private school and students who moved within NYC and want a school closer to their new home. 

Pre-K

If your child was born in 2020 and lives in New York City, they are eligible to attend Pre-K in fall 2024. If you missed the deadline to apply, you can still participate in admissions by adding your child to programs’ waitlists in MySchools—learn how by watching the "How to Add Your Child to Waitlists” video.

Kindergarten

If your child was born in 2019 and lives in New York City, they are eligible to attend kindergarten in fall 2024. If you missed the deadline to apply, you can still participate in admissions by adding your child to programs’ waitlists in MySchools—learn how by watching the "How to Add Your Child to Waitlists” video. Please keep in mind that you can no longer apply to kindergarten G&T programs or add your child to kindergarten G&T waitlists.

Type your home address into Find a School to learn if P.S. 001 is your zoned school.

  • If P.S. 001 is your zoned school please contact Glorimar Ortiz Sifre, Pupil Accounting Secretary, to register directly at that school.

Students in Temporary Housing

Students in temporary housing, as defined by the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, are not required to submit documentation (including address, proof of date of birth, and immunization records) in order to participate in any admission process or enroll in school.
