Our Vision: We, as a collaborative community, believe all of our students can learn and will be prepared for the 21st century workforce.
Our Mission: Based on data the school will develop a strategic plan to support all students, including English Language Learners and Students with Disabilities by providing students with researched based targeted small group instruction to prepare our students for the 21st century.
Instructional Focus
Administrators and teachers create an environment where learning is joyful and driven by risk-taking, questioning and learners' interest. Everyone, including administrators, teachers, parents and students, learn with and from each other to develop knowledge of content and practice while providing multiple entry points for our diverse learners. Students engage in collaborative problem solving, and discourse of real world issues to become independent and confident critical thinkers.
Administrators, teachers, parents and students consistently collect, analyze, and reflect on qualitative and quantitative data sources. All members of the school community will work to support the whole child; socially, emotionally, culturally, linguistically, and academically.
COMPREHENSIVE LEARNING PLAN (CEP) GOALS
Our goal is to support students throughout their educational journey. We empower students to drive change in their communities and the world. At P.S. 001 The Bergen we aim to:
- Improve grade level ELA and Math performance rate.
- Develop staff's understanding of inquiry based mathematical practices in order to build students' conceptual understanding of math content and strengthen reasoning.
- To build educators capacity to deepen student's engagement through reading challenging and exciting text that maximizes the student's potential and fosters critical thinking.
- To develop staff's understanding of the whole child; socially, emotionally, culturally, linguistically and academically, in order to create a positive learning environment.
