Dear Parents/Guardians,

I would like to welcome you to the 2016-2017 school year.  I hope your summer went well and you are excited to begin the new school year.  I anticipate an exciting year as we collectively strive to foster a culture of learning.  I feel extremely fortunate to be working with such an exceptional group of students, families and staff members.

Today is our official start of the school year and students are expected to be in school from 8:20 a.m. to 2:40 p.m. each day. Pre-k and Kindergarten students are dismissed at 2:30 p.m.  Our cafeteria doors open at 8:00 a.m. for breakfast.  Pre-k are served breakfast in their classrooms at 8:35 a.m.

During the first two days of school all first and second grade students will meet their teachers in the school yard at 8:20.  Students in grade 3-5 will enter directly into the cafeteria.  Parents of Pre-k and kindergarten students will escort their children directly in the classrooms via the main entrance. Beginning September 13, 2015 the 46 street side door will be open from 8:15 a.m. to 8:25 a.m. for all first and second grade students.  Kindergarten parents will continue to escort their children to their classroom for the month of September.  Pre-k parents will escort their children directly to the classroom for the entire school year.

Our dismissal procedures are as follows:

  • Pre-K parents pick up their children from the classrooms at 2:30.

  • Kindergarten students are dismissed at 2:30 in the school yard

  • First grade, second grade, 154, 153, and 305   students are dismissed at 2:40 in the school yard

  • Fourth grade students are dismissed at 2:40 through the main entrance

  • Third and Fifth grade students are dismissed at 2:40 through the 46 street side exit.

Procedures for students who are not picked up on time:

  • Pre-K students will be placed in the main office

  • K-2 students will be in the mini-school until 3p.m.

  • Grades 3-5 will be in the auditorium until 3p.m.

In the event of hazardous weather conditions, you will receive an automated message stating we will be using alternate dismissal procedures.  These procedures are as follows:

  • All students in the mini building will be picked up directly from the mini building

  • Kindergarten students will be picked up directly from their classrooms

  • First and second grade students who are not in the mini building will be picked up from the cafeteria.

  • Third thru fifth grade, students will be dismissed as usual.

It is extremely important that the person who is picking up your child knows the name and class of the students in order to have a smooth dismissal.

Early pick-up of your child may only be for emergencies In order for your child to receive the best academic program it is important for you to schedule all doctor’s appointments after school hours. Students need to be in school every day on time in order to progress academically.  Please remember if your child will be picked-up by another adult they must be 18 years and older and listed on the blue card. It is important to regularly update the blue card in order for the school to be able to reach you in the event of an emergency. You must present an ID at the Security Desk to enter the building.
